Copperhead Sinks has put together a few "must have" items for the care and installation of your new or existing copper sink. Copper Sink Care Copper Sink Wax is a natural patina protector, great for keeping the patina from dramatic changes when used with a lot of acidic foods. Copper Sink Care Silicone Sealer is a necessary item for installing the drain (DO NOT USE PLUMBERS PUTTY ON A COPPER SINK: plumbers putty is too light (makes it look dirty around the drain) and can cause a chemical reaction with copper and can cause plated drains to separate and peel). Copper Sink Care Silicone is also great for sealing edge of sink between it and the counter top. DO NOT use silicone as an adhesive, it is only intended to seal the space between the sink and the drain to keep it water tight and to seal between the sink and the counter top to keep dust and water from building up between the two. Copper Sink Care Sink clips are for under mount sink applications only. Finally, Copper Sink Care chemical darkening solution is intended for small spot that may lighten and can not be darkened with the Oxidation of air and water. This is recommended as a last resort to darken an area. Should a light spot occur, clean the area with a degreaser such as 409 spray. Rinse and let air dry. Air and water cause the natural oxidation process and will allow your sink to naturally darken. Keep using your sink, enjoy the changes, knowing the darkening is a natural process.
